Certificate III in Football Coaching

This course has been developed under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) and is a nationally recognised course.

Entry Requirements
There are no minimum education requirements for this course although it is expected that the student be employed or actively engaged in their chosen sport.

Program Duration
Full Time:  12 months       Part Time: 24 months
  • Classes are normally timetabled between 9.00am and 4.00pm, Monday to Thursday
  • Industry placement occurs in the 3rd and 4th semester and students are placed in the work place once a week in addition to normal classes
  • Hands-on components occur throughout the course.
N.B. Face to face and correspondence courses can be tailored to an individual or group’s specific needs and requirements. Teaching Methods
Teaching methods comprise supervised classroom learning, lectures, supervised practical components, work experience/practical placement and field trips.

Assessment Methods
Students are required to participate in practical activities, complete assignments, presentations, vocational projects, observation, role plays and recognition of prior learning (RPL). Assessment opportunities will be endorsed as a cluster where applicable.  If a suitable strategic goal is not identified then a recognised resource will be implemented.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a student may be granted credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training.

Qualifications granted by AFC are accredited by the Queensland Government through the Department of Education, Training and the Arts. This program is nationally recognised under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF). AFC National Training Provider No. 31717

Course Structure
The course structure of the Certificate III in Football Coaching comprises a minimum of thirty (30) units of competency from the national qualification. The 30 units are made up of:
  • nine (9) core/compulsory units
  • twelve (12) stream units from the functional area of coaching
  • five (5) selection of specialisation units (swimming coaching is chosen)
  • six (6) elective units
The approved nominal reporting hours of delivery for Certificate III in Football Coaching is 493 Hours.

N.B. If a student is attempting the Certificate III in Football Coaching  without having completed the Certificate II in Football coaching, the student will be required to complete a further 7 pre requisite units.
